Lanterns

19 December 2022

This is a slideshow about lanterns.

Here are a set of paper-like lanterns from the lobby of a Japanese hotel.  They set a scene in what otherwise would be a pretty generic, high-rise floor.

They are a variant of these paper lanterns, which you can easily find in NY.  While more common than those from the lobby, they are no less charming.

These variants/relatives are from Portugal and lack the Asian motif, but like those above they do set a scene.  They are not terribly bright.

These relatives from Texas also set a scene, albeit one that is more festive and bare.  They are not so bright either.

These are the bigger NY cousins you gotta look up to.  Hard to miss once you find them.

They stand out well on their own, especially from Riverside Park and probably NJ too.  This is from Lincoln Square, behind Mount Sinai West.

Are there any lanterns in the lobby or on top of this hotel?  The hotel is the lantern.

These are arguably lanterns, in the form of: a church, a statue and a mini pagoda.

This is well-lit, but it is a glass of gin.
